FIT4THOUGHT CHRISTMAS WORKSHOPS

The start of the 2020/21 school year has been difficult and stressful due to the new normality to which we have had to adapt due to COVID-19.
However, we have had to get used to the new rules, covid routes, maintain distances, use a mask, avoid physical contact, etc, etc, etc that have made the students and teachers have been worried and stressed  working hard in order that at IES LA OLIVA we stay healthy and happy.

The good work of the students, families, teachers and non-teaching staff of the high school  have done wonderfully and therefore we wanted to face a new challenge, CELEBRATE OUR TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS PARTY with the appropriate health and safety measures in this time of pandemic .
Our ERASMUS + FIT4THOUGHT project together with the Physical Education teachers have organized the IES LA OLIVA CHRISTMAS PARTY.

THANKS TO THE STUDENTS AND THE TEACHERS AND TO ALL THE NON-TEACHING STAFF OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL FOR HAVING MADE THIS DREAM CAME TRUE.

The activities carried out on this beautiful day were focused on carrying out healthy food workshops, dance workshops, solidarity race / gymkhana, solidarity workshop, percussion workshop, workshop to manage stress and also music and singing as a way of enjoyment and relaxation.

Throughout the month of December the students and teachers donated toys in the toy collection campaign so that no child is left without toys during these holidays and a food collection campaign was also carried out.

HEALTHY FOOD WORKSHOP

A healthy life begins with having healthy habits in all aspects of our daily life but above all those related to eating habits. That is why in this workshop the importance of eating fruit and vegetables was explained to the students. Its benefits for our body are innumerable and, they are the best allies to prevent diseases. Rich in vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, etc., they help us protect the heart, they have a lot of fiber, it is satiating, they are often suitable for diabetes, they regulate the intestine, they activate the brain. They also help us lose weight, eliminate toxins, can help us fight anxiety, stress and insomnia, favor the immune system and improve blood circulation.

In this workshop given by Carolina Ramos, the importance of consuming fruits and vegetables at least 5 times a day was emphasized and the students were also encouraged to consume local products, thus also helping agriculture in the area.

DANCE WORKSHOP

The students and teachers participated in the dance workshop. The benefits of dancing for our physical and mental health are many. From improving our psychomotricity to improving our mood to moving to the rhythm of the music to remove stress and anxiety and, above all, to raise our self-esteem after the effort made and the good results obtained.

SOLIDARITY WORKSHOP

The HOSPITRAN ASSOCIATION (Fuerteventura hospital clowns)  informed us of the great work they do on our island. They encouraged students and teachers to dedicate some of their time to help in any type of association since being a volunteer not only helps other people but also helps us to grow as people and to put ourselves in the place of the othe. In addition, the smile and the laughter are always the best medicines.

PERCUSSION WORKSHOP

Nothing better than a percussion workshop to train our brain to concentrate and to coordinate our body with rhythmic movements. Besisdes relaxing we also had a great time.

Thanks to Rayco Rodríguez for having organized this workshop.

To end this beautiful day, we finished with a short outdoor Xmas show  where the students and teachers relaxed with the rhythm of a pupurri of Christmas carold and also the IES LA OLIVA CHOIR sang a selection of Christmas carols to wish us a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
